Baking has been a shining light through my mental illness

Hello friend, I’m Jess – the face and voice of The Anxious Bakers’ Club.

I live with a severe level of anxiety, with depression added into the mix and have done since childhood. I get how difficult it can be to cope sometimes, and I also know how lonely it can feel when you’re struggling.

Baking for me has been a solace for so many years, becoming a tool to help me as an anxious, school-avoiding teenager and as an adult, I set-up a bakery business to help me through a really tough time.

For me, baking is an immersive tool to help ground me. As well as proof to my critical brain that I can achieve good things, even when I believe I can’t. I’m here to help you to realise those things too and to remind you that you’re not alone.

Meet the team

Linda

Linda takes the lead with photography at The Anxious Bakers' Club, shooting all the photos and videos you'll see across our products and social media. As well as that, she facilitates our zoom sessions, so you'll see her friendly face welcoming you in and seeing to any questions that arise when Jess is busy leading the workshops.

Jess

Jess is the mastermind behind all the recipes that you'll see within The Anxious Bakers' Club Community. As well as heading up the live bake-alongs and tea and cake sessions live on zoom. As well as that, she heads up the community page; creating meaningful content to inspire, connect and nourish.

A place to connect

The Anxious Bakers’ Club community is a place to connect with others. Whether you’re a pro baker who just needs some encouragement, or a novice who is eager to learn. No matter what level your mental health, if you’re someone who gets stressed when life is overwhelming, or you struggle to cope with the day-to-day due to mental illness; you’re very welcome to join. Whilst we are not a therapy service or a replacement for mental health care, we offer encouragement to help yourself, through baking and self-care tips as well as a space to connect with others who understand.
